David Leapheart

David Leapheart is a commercial litigation associate with matters in a broad array of industries, including technology, manufacturing, defense, pharmaceutical, and sports. He has handled matters before federal district courts, administrative agencies, and state courts across the country. Regardless of the industry or venue, David’s practice is defined by his passion for providing pragmatic, client-focused solutions, even in the most complex cases.

David is also dedicated to his pro-bono practice. He is currently representing incarcerated clients in Section 1983 civil rights suits and in habeas matters.

Before joining Covington, David served as a prosecutor in the United States Marine Corps. At Marine Corps Base Quantico, David investigated and charged criminal matters for commands across the United States. He was also first or second chair on several contested jury trials, numerous guilty pleas, and many administrative hearings. He continues to leverage his investigative and trial experience for his clients today.
