Jessica A. Beess und Chrostin
Jessica Beess und Chrostin represents clients in administered and ad hoc international commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration, and intra-State arbitration, as well as international disputes before U.S. courts. She has represented and counseled clients in disputes involving numerous industries, including mining, oil and gas, electric power, renewable energy, real estate development, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, construction, and telecommunications.
Ms. Beess und Chrostin represents clients in arbitrations before all major arbitral institutions, including the AAA, ICC, ICDR, ICSID, JAMS, LCIA, and SCC as well as ad hoc arbitrations, such as under the UNCITRAL Rules. She is experienced in all phases of international arbitration and handles disputes arising under bilateral investment treaties and multilateral treaties, such as the Energy Charter Treaty and the NAFTA. She also represents clients in international disputes before U.S. courts, and has substantial experience in award enforcement and recognition proceedings under the New York Convention and the Federal Arbitration Act.
Ms. Beess und Chrostin was formerly an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt Law School, where she taught investment treaty arbitration. She was a Program Committee Member and Special Aide of the 111th Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL). She is a frequent writer and speaker on topics relating to international arbitration (for a representative list, please see below).
Ms. Beess und Chrostin received her J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and her B.A. cum laude from Columbia University. She has conducted legal studies at Cambridge University.
