DUBAI—Brian Shonubi has joined Covington’s Dubai office as of counsel in the firm’s global finance practice.
Brian's practice focuses on cross-border and emerging markets work primarily in Africa, as well as the Middle East, Europe, and India. He advises on project finance; structured finance; acquisition finance, syndicated lending, and cross border regulatory law. In addition, Brian advises on English law transactions for inbound funds into Africa across a range of legal systems and jurisdictions. His clients include lenders, investors, sovereign entities and sponsors across a range of sectors including financial institutions; energy; infrastructure, mining and commodities; transport; technology; telecoms; and life sciences & healthcare.
As part of the cross border-finance team at Covington, Brian will focus on lender facing work, including American and European financings and investments in Africa and the Middle East, and Middle Eastern financings and investments in Africa. Brian will work closely with the firm's Project Development & Finance practice to deliver a broader finance offering.
Brian is admitted to the bar of England & Wales; and is admitted to practice in Uganda. He is a member of the Loan Market Association’s (LMA) Africa documentation drafting committee.
