May 21, 2015
WASHINGTON, DC, May 21, 2015 — Covington’s insurance recovery practice won the 2015 Chambers USA Award for Excellence in Insurance, marking the fifth time the firm has received this honor in the nine years it has been awarded.
The Award for Excellence, presented at Chambers USA’s annual awards dinner in New York City on May 19, was given to only one U.S. firm representing policyholders in the insurance coverage field and coincided with the release of the Chambers USA 2015 guidebook, which conferred on Covington its only top-tier ranking nationally and in California and Washington, D.C.
In placing the firm in its top tier nationally, Chambers described Covington as “the undisputed leader in policyholder representation with a depth of experience and quality provided by a bench containing the market's leading practitioners. Involved in the most sophisticated coverage disputes on a domestic and international level for clients from all industrial sectors including energy, pharmaceuticals, financial services and media.”
“We are delighted by this recognition of our insurance recovery practice, one of the firm’s most dynamic and storied practices. Ultimately, this is a testament to our clients, who put their trust in us and work closely with our lawyers on these important matters,” said Timothy Hester, chair of Covington’s management committee.
Along with the firm rankings, more than a dozen of Covington’s coverage lawyers were ranked individually for their work in Washington, California and/or nationally, including Don Brown, John Buchanan, Mitchell Dolin, Anna Engh, Marialuisa Gallozzi, Saul Goodman, David Goodwin, Bill Greaney, Larry Hobel, Ben Lenhart, Marty Myers, René Siemens and Bill Skinner.
Covington’s insurance practice, with more than 100 lawyers in multiple offices on the East and West Coasts and in London, has a 35-year record of successfully assisting policyholders in maximizing their insurance coverage for a wide variety of contested claims.
In connection with the May 19 awards ceremony, Covington was also shortlisted for Chambers USA Awards for Excellence in the fields of antitrust, employee benefits, intellectual property and international trade.
