WASHINGTON, DC, May 4, 2015 — Gabe Neville, a senior congressional staffer with nearly two decades of experience working for Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Joe Pitts, has joined Covington’s
global public policy & government affairs practice.
Mr. Neville, a non-lawyer, started out as a campaign manager for Rep. Pitts in 1995 and worked his way through the ranks to become his chief of staff in 2003. In that role, he advised the congressman on a wide range of issues, with special attention to energy and health care issues that come before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
As a senior chief of staff for one of the Republican party’s most senior members, Mr. Neville brings in-depth knowledge about a wide array of other issues pending in Congress, including telecommunications, agriculture and human rights. Mr. Neville has helped lead meetings of the Values Action Team, a group created by Republican House Leadership to maintain cooperation with conservative congressmen and activist groups.
“Gabe is a widely recognized, seasoned senior Hill staffer who enjoys great respect in all quarters of the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Dan Bryant, chair of the firm’s global public policy practice. “His extensive knowledge of the people, the policies and the politics of Congress will enable him to help us guide clients in their dealings with Capitol Hill.”
Mr. Neville will be a public policy adviser based in Washington and work closely with Senator Jon Kyl, former Senate Minority Whip, and Congressman Howard Berman, former chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as a global public policy and government affairs team that includes former top staff from the legislative and executive branches. He will advise clients in Europe, China, Latin America, Africa, India and the Middle East.
“I am humbled and excited by this extraordinary opportunity to work with a wonderfully talented team that includes some of the most respected former members of Congress at one of the nation’s top law firms and public policy practices,” Mr. Neville said. “Leaving Chairman Pitts and joining the Covington team is going from one dream job to another.”
Mr. Neville earned his bachelor’s degree from Franklin and Marshall College.
