WASHINGTON, DC, April 7, 2014 — Covington & Burling partners Simon Amies, Scott Anthony and Andrew Jack spoke at the 2014 CleanEquity Monaco conference in the Principality of Monaco on March 27 and 28. The annual conference, sponsored in part by Covington and hosted by London-based Innovator Capital, aims to accelerate cleantech innovation and provide expert intelligence on emerging clean technologies. Messrs. Amies, Anthony and Jack presented a workshop for investors and emerging companies titled “Navigating Legal Traps & Regulatory Complexity.” Mr. Amies was also a panelist on the “Benefits & Pitfalls of Engaging with a Strategic Investor” workshop, chaired by Andrew Gilbert, founder of Gildrew Limited and former executive vice president of European Innovation Development at Qualcomm Europe, Inc., and included co-panelists from GE Ventures and E.ON. Other speakers included Prince Albert II of Monaco; Mungo Park, chairman of Innovator Capital; Zhasulan Tashenov, managing director of Kaznex Invest, the national export and investment agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Jordan Brandt, technology futurist for Autodesk; and Jerry Hardcastle, global chief marketability engineer for Nissan.
