WASHINGTON, DC, March 4, 2014 —The Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia has awarded Stefanie Doebler its Klepper Prize for Volunteer Excellence, which recognizes lawyers early in their careers who have made a significant volunteer contribution to the Society. Ms. Doebler, special counsel in Covington & Burling’s health care and food and drug practice groups, is being recognized for her ongoing pro bono work in connection with the Society’s annual Medicare Part D Initiative. For more than seven years, Ms. Doebler has helped senior and disabled clients navigate the complex Medicare Part D system to ensure that they continue to receive their prescription medications without interruption. In a press release announcing the award recipients, Eric Angel, executive director of Legal Aid, praised Ms. Doebler’s contributions to the initiative. “The decision of the Klepper Honoree Committee was unanimous that Stefanie’s work was worthy of extraordinary recognition,” Mr. Angel said. “We are so appreciative of all she has done for D.C.’s low-income community since the very inception of Legal Aid’s Part D Initiative.” Ms. Doebler will be honored at Legal Aid’s annual Servant of Justice Awards Dinner on April 29 in Washington, D.C.
