2/10/2009

WASHINGTON, DC, February 10, 2009 — Covington & Burling LLP is pleased to announce that Bill Wichterman has rejoined the firm’s Government Affairs group as Senior Legislative Advisor. He will be resident in Covington’s Washington office.

Mr. Wichterman, a non-lawyer, is returning to the firm from the Bush Administration, where he served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Public Liaison at the White House. He has more than 21 years of experience in policy-making, and has been active in patent reform, health care, litigation reform, financial institutions, and tax policy. Before joining Covington as a Senior Legislative Advisor in 2005, he was Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and Chief of Staff to Congressman Joe Pitts and Congressman Bill Baker.

“We are pleased to welcome Bill back to Covington,” said Martin Gold, co-chair of Covington’s Government Affairs practice group. “His distinguished career on Capitol Hill and his deep knowledge of the policy-making and political structures in Washington make him an important addition to our Government Affairs practice.”

Mr. Wichterman stated, “I am very pleased to rejoin my colleagues at Covington. Covington has an outstanding team of top-notch professionals who achieve important policy goals for its clients.”

Mr. Wichterman is a graduate of Catholic University of America (M.A., summa cum laude, 1993) and Houghton College (B.A., magna cum laude, 1986).
