NEW YORK, NY, September 8, 2008 — Alberto-Culver Company announced today that it signed an agreement to acquire the Noxzema skin care brand from The Procter & Gamble Company. The agreement includes the existing business in the United States, Canada and portions of Latin America. Procter & Gamble will continue to operate its existing Noxzema shave care, antiperspirant/deodorant, body wash and body soap business in portions of Western Europe. Covington & Burling LLP advised Procter & Gamble on the transaction. The Covington corporate team included partners Scott Smith and Peter Schwartz and associate Donald Saelinger. All are resident in the firm’s New York office. The Covington team also included Washington-based partner James Dean and associate Andrew Lamb (antitrust).
