Covington Advises Coty in Sale of Calgon and Healing Garden Brands

NEW YORK, NY, January 22, 2007 — Covington & Burling LLP advised Coty Inc. in its $125 million sale of the Calgon® and healing garden® brands, the number one and two brands respectively in the specialty bath sector, to Ascendia Brands, Inc. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2007.

Coty Inc. is the world’s largest fragrance company with an annual net sales of $2.9 billion. Brands include Calvin Klein, Cerruti, Chloé, Jette Joop, Jil Sander, JOOP!, Kenneth Cole, Marc Jacobs, Nikos, Vera Wang and Vivienne Westwood.

The Covington corporate team included Scott Smith and Andrew Muratore, as well as George Chester and Stephen Rodger (antitrust).
