Covington Advises Pfizer in Acquisition of Rinat Neuroscience

NEW YORK, NY, April 18, 2006 -  Covington advised Pfizer Inc. in the acquisition of Rinat Neuroscience Corp., a privately held biotechnology company.  The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Rinat discovers, develops, and commercializes protein therapeutics for diseases and disorders of the nervous system.  Rinat is working on a potential new treatment for acute and chronic pain that is currently entering Phase II clinical trials and also in Phase I studies for an Alzheimer's disease drug.

The Covington corporate team members included partner J. D. Weinberg and associates Frank London and Andrew Ment in New York.  Partner Michael Francese and associate Kendra Roberson in Washington handled employee benefits matters.  Covington's M&A practice was ranked among the top 20 legal advisers for U.S. announced M&A transactions for 2005 by Thomson, Bloomberg and mergermarket.
