LONDON, UK, December 1, 2005 - Leading international law firm Covington & Burling has won the "Best Achievement in Protecting IP on the Internet" Award at the WORLDleaders European Awards in London last night.
The Covington team, led by a transatlantic team of lawyers and Internet specialists, including London partner Lisa Peets and Senior Internet specialist Peter Anaman, were presented the award for their innovative work devising and executing creative and effective strategies to identify and combat piracy and counterfeiting online.
Lisa Peets commented: "We were absolutely delighted to have received this award. With the explosion of the Internet in the early 1990's, our international IP team crafted and implemented one of the first global strategies to combat Internet piracy. Since then, our dedicated team, which includes highly-skilled in-house Internet investigators, has been involved in several leading Internet piracy cases on behalf of our clients. Winning this award is recognition of our deep expertise and experience in this cutting-edge area".
The Awards, which are independently assessed and chosen by a panel of industry experts, recognize the level of excellence the winners have achieved in their field over the last 12 months and are organized by legal publisher Informa.
