    Nikhil V. Gore advises financial institutions and global corporations in cross-border disputes, and domestic and international investigations and enforcement actions.

    He has represented major U.S. and foreign banks in civil and criminal enforcement matters relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the federal criminal anti-money laundering (AML) statutes, and a wide range of governance, control framework, safety and soundness, and consumer and fair lending issues. He also counsels clients on BSA/AML regulations, and the structure and functioning of their control, compliance, and audit frameworks.

    In his disputes practice, Nikhil has handled financial, commercial, and treaty-based arbitrations spanning Asia, Eastern Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa. He has experience under the DIFC-LCIA, ICC, ICSID, SIAC, and UNCITRAL rules, as well as before UNCLOS Annex VII tribunals and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.

    • Represent a large national bank in resolving a significant OCC enforcement matter.
    • Represent a global financial institution in a multi-year financial crime investigation, and in securing a related declination.
    • Advise a major national bank in responding to multiple bank regulatory compliance inquiries, none of which resulted in formal enforcement action.
    • Represent global banks, private equity firms and corporations in financial crime risk assessments, design and evaluation of compliance and control frameworks, and legal and reputational reviews of significant transactions.

    International Arbitration

    • Evaluate potential international investment law claims for a fintech firm adversely impacted by financial regulatory measures.
    • Represent the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Ukraine v. Russia, PCA Case No. 2017-06, and Case Concerning the Detention of Three Ukrainian Naval Vessels, ITLOS Case No. 26.

    • Represent a large, Asian electronics company in a commercial dispute with a U.S. vendor.
    • Represent a major natural resource company in successfully resolving an investment dispute with an African state.
    • Advise a specialist engineering firm on determining and negotiating its contractual rights and obligations after performance was disrupted by armed conflict.
    • Represent an infrastructure investor in Crimea in an investment dispute.
