Congress Makes Deal, Gives DoD 2017 Spending Boost

May 2, 2017, ABC7

Roger Zakheim appeared on ABC7's 'Government Matters' to discuss the increase in Defense Department funding for the remainder of FY 2017. According to Zakheim, "This has been a long time coming for the department of defense…they really needed to have these appropriations pass."

When asked to how to best proceed with the DoD's budget for FY 2018, Zakheim said, "To the extent that republicans prioritize defense, they'll probably have to give something on the domestic side. Ultimately, I think if you want to fund the government [and] get away from these [FY]16 resolutions and accomplish the goals that this president has asked for, that's the pathway to a deal."
