On Tuesday, September 19, in coordination with New York Climate Week, Covington will be holding a special in-person event on Women Leaders in Climate featuring the diverse perspectives of leading corporate chief sustainability officers and current and former senior government officials. Please join Carol Browner, former EPA Administrator and later Director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, and Jayni Hein, former Senior Director at the White House Council on Environmental Quality and Co-Chair of Covington's new Carbon Management & Climate Mitigation initiative, the panel will highlight the important work on sustainability and climate change mitigation and discussing the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Panelists include:

  • Maxine Burkett, until recently, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES) 
  • Kathleen McLaughlin, Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, Walmart Inc. 
  • Melanie Nakagawa, Chief Sustainability Officer, Microsoft  
  • Alejandra Nunez, Deputy Assistant Administrator for Mobile Sources at Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 
  • Val Smith, Chief Sustainability Officer, Citi
