Green Claims and Greenwashing Enforcement in the EU and UK
Please join us on May 24, 2023 for a webinar on the new rules on green claims and enforcement against greenwashing in the European Union and the United Kingdom.
The EU is currently considering for adoption two ambitious proposals for a Green Claims Directive and Greenwashing Directive that will significantly limit the environmental claims that companies may make on their products and services (see our coverage here). Moreover, the proposed Directives will impose stringent requirements on how companies substantiate, communicate and verify their environmental claims. In effect, if adopted, the new Directives will limit the ability of companies to make carbon footprint, circularity (recycled content, recyclability), energy efficiency, and other sustainability claims. The upcoming requirements are in line with increased enforcement against misleading environmental claims in France and other EU Member States, and in the UK.
In this webinar, we will discuss the main principles and requirements of the proposed Green Claims Directive and Greenwashing Directive; tightened guidance and enforcement in the United Kingdom; the common themes and rules of thumb, as well as notable points of difference, between the EU and UK regimes; and provide recommendations as to measures that companies should immediately take to ensure compliance.
