Covington Hosts UK Event for LGBT+ History Month

February 6, 2020

In celebration of LGBT+ History Month, our London Diversity Committee teamed with Out of America to co-host a networking event featuring guest speaker, Dr. S. Chelvan from No 5 Barrister Chambers.

Dr. Chelvan is a globally recognized legal expert on refugee and human rights claims based on sexual, or gender identity and expression. In his talk entitled "At the End of the Rainbow: Where next for the Queer Refugee?", Dr. Chelvan shared his unique perspective and personal experiences of LGBT+ asylum cases in the UK today and sparked some interesting debate on the subject. Out of America is a LGBT+ network comprised of London-based lawyers from U.S. law firms.
