Bright Network - Future Lawyers Top 100

September 4, 2018

Chris BracebridgeIn September, representatives from the Diversity Committee attended Bright Network's 'Future Lawyers Top 100' event at the Banking Hall in London.

Bright Network is an organization designed to help the best and brightest students from all backgrounds make the connections they need to fulfil their potential and get ahead in the world of work. Bright Network's membership is predominantly made up of individuals who are either state-educated (75 percent), BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) (40 percent) and/or the first generation in their family to go to university (43 percent). Students were required to undergo an application screening in order to secure their place at the event. As a result, the caliber of students in attendance was exceptionally high.

Covington had the opportunity to meet all 100 students via structured networking sessions, with groups of ten students rotating between law firms every ten minutes, and representatives answered a variety of questions relating to life as a Covington lawyer. In addition, Covington partner Chris Bracebridge participated in a panel session on "What to Expect from a Career in Commercial Law," which provided students with an insight into the attributes that make a successful commercial lawyer and the challenges that the legal landscape may face over the next few years.

Covington hopes to continue working with Bright Networks over the upcoming months.
