Covington & Burling LLP operates as a limited liability partnership worldwide, with the practice in England and Wales conducted by an affiliated limited liability multinational partnership, Covington & Burling LLP, which is formed under the laws of the State of Delaware in the United States and authorized and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority with registration number 77071..
Completing your training at Covington provides the responsibility and opportunity of a close-knit office, combined with the resources and prestige of a leading international firm. In our Dubai office, you will become an integral member of the team, trusted with meaningful work early on and supported to grow through hands-on experience.
Over the course of your four-seat training period, you will have the opportunity to work on transactional, contentious, and advisory matters. This may include infrastructure development, project acquisition and finance, mergers and acquisitions, sector-specific regulatory work, policy matters with our regulatory advisors, and investigations and disputes with our white collar and litigation teams.
Your Training
You will train to become an England and Wales qualified solicitor and will participate in training and development prior to joining the firm and throughout your two year training period.
At Covington, trainees benefit from a carefully tailored programme. Each trainee is supervised by two lawyers who ensure they are exposed to meaningful work in a supportive environment.
Trainees complete four six-month seats during their training period across our Project Development and Finance, White Collar Investigations and Disputes, Corporate and Public Policy and Regulatory practice groups. It is expected you will undertake one seat in the London office, within one of our contentious, transactional or regulatory practices.
What We Are Looking For

"Working at Covington is most certainly unlike working in any other law firm in Dubai: our collaborative culture across the firm is well-known; but what that means in practice for everyone in our Dubai team is that we are not confined only to regional matters but regularly work with colleagues from other offices assisting clients on matters regardless of their locations." |
We encourage lawyers with outstanding academic records and a history of personal accomplishment, and who are interested in practicing with Covington, to submit their resume and several references to the recruiting contact for the firm office in which they are interested.
At Covington, we strive to maintain the highest standards of integrity to ensure the commercial success and reputation of our firm. One means by which we do this is through conducting routine background checks, which is a requirement of joining Covington. The standard pre-employment background checks we may conduct on prospective partners, lawyers, and employees include checks relating to public social media presence, criminal records, education and employment history. Additional checks may be undertaken appropriate to the requirements of the role. All background checks are conducted in accordance with applicable local laws.
