Bill Zapf is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation group.  He focuses his practice on patent litigation.  Mr. Zapf has represented a range of clients involved in disputes concerning a variety of technologies, including major international companies in the consumer electronics, software, and pharmaceutical industries.  Mr. Zapf also has experience handling cases in various forums, including several United States District Courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission.

  • Lead associate on technical defenses involving graphics processor patents for major consumer electronics company in a Section 337 Investigation before the International Trade Commission.
  • Lead associate handling damages issues for major international consumer electronics company through trial in the Northern District of California.
  • Representation of pioneer pharmaceutical company in multiple patent litigation suits brought in the District of South Carolina involving a statin drug product.
  • Representation of a major software company in patent litigation in the Eastern District of Texas and Northern District of California involving video software.
  • Representation of a leading provider of vehicle inspection technology in patent litigation in the Northern District of Illinois involving on-board diagnostics systems.
  • Representation of a pioneer pharmaceutical company in Hatch-Waxman litigation against three generic drug companies in the Southern District of New York involving a phosphate binding drug.

Pro Bono

  • Lead trial counsel handling all aspects of a jury trial for defendant accused of second degree assault in Prince George’s County Circuit Court.
