Stephanie Sarzana’s practice focuses on international commercial arbitration and complex commercial litigation. Ms. Sarzana has represented companies in arbitrations governed by a variety of rules, including ICC and ICSID. Ms. Sarzana’s practice covers a wide range of industries, with a focus on the energy, telecommunications and financial services sectors. She has particular experience advising on and representing parties in gas price review arbitrations.

In addition to international arbitration matters, Ms. Sarzana regularly advises on issues of company valuation and quantification of damages.

  • Acting for a European buyer against an LNG producer in a gas re-pricing arbitration.
  • Advising an international oil company on its Tract Participation rights under a Unitisation Framework Agreement with an amount in dispute of several hundred million dollars.
  • Representing a leading European telecommunications company in several arbitrations sited in Vienna with an amount in dispute of several billion Euros.
  • Acting for a subsidiary of a multinational financial institution against a South American state on a petition to compel arbitration in New York, and the ensuing ICC arbitration.
  • Acting for a major petroleum company in an ICSID arbitration against a Latin American country regarding alleged expropriation of the company’s assets with an amount in dispute of several billion dollars.
  • Representing a major Canadian retail group in a bondholder litigation in connection with the sale of its Brooks and Eckerd drugstore operations to Rite-Aid Corporation.
  • Advising an international human rights organization on its submission to the United Nations Human Rights Committee regarding alleged religious discrimination by the Republic of France relating to French legislation banning any ostentatious display of religious faith in schools.
