Mike Gaffney is a litigator in the firm’s Washington, DC office, where he represents clients in appellate litigation, administrative law, and complex commercial litigation matters. Mr. Gaffney has also represented policyholders in coverage disputes with their insurers. Mr. Gaffney maintains an active pro bono practice in both trial and appellate courts.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gaffney clerked for the Hon. Stephen F. Williams of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and the Hon. Patti B. Saris of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Pro Bono

  • In a § 1983 appeal, represents a plaintiff who was denied access to an allergen-free diet while incarcerated in a state correctional facility.
  • In a § 1983 suit against Orleans Parish District Attorney and City of New Orleans, represented a plaintiff who was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to over 34 years in prison. Obtained a favorable settlement.
