NAACP Honors Eric Holder with Inaugural Award for Public Service

WASHINGTON—The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) honored Covington partner and the 82nd Attorney General of the United States Eric Holder with the Nathaniel R. Jones Award for Exceptional Public Service at the 108th NAACP National Convention. 

Named after the Honorable Nathaniel R. Jones, who served for 23 years as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and for 10 years as General Counsel of the NAACP, this is the first NAACP award that recognizes the work of public servants in the pursuit of civil rights and social justice.

Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation’s oldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization working to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
