Covington's Competition Law Practice Named to GCR Global Elite

WASHINGTON, December 22, 2014 — The Global Competition Review (GCR) has named Covington & Burling to its Global Elite, a list of the top 20 competition practices worldwide, ranking it among the top practices in both Brussels and Washington, D.C.
Each year, GCR undertakes extensive analysis of competition law groups in 50 jurisdictions around the world. In honoring Covington, GCR reported: “Covington advised on some stellar mergers last year,” noting the firm’s work in acquisitions by Microsoft and Facebook. On the antitrust litigation front in 2014, Covington secured defense victories in two high-profile U.S. cases, dismissal for Samsung Electronics of more than $3 billion in claimed damages sought by Motorola and dismissal for JP Morgan of aluminum warehousing class actions. “By virtue of both the antitrust group’s work and its immense talent, Covington & Burling has entrenched itself among the top competition practices” in Washington and is one of only a few highly recommended practices in Brussels.
