Kamakshi Venkataramanan is a corporate lawyer from Covington’s London office, who joined the firm as a trainee solicitor in 2013.

Ms. Venkataramanan advises both private and public companies on a broad range of corporate, transactional and advisory matters, including commercial contracts and collaborative ventures, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. Ms Venkataramanan’s practice has a particular focus on clients in the media & technology and life sciences sectors.

  • Advising Qualcomm Inc. on its £1.56 billion recommended cash offer for CSR plc.
  • Advising Merck & Co. Inc. on several global integrations and restructuring programmes. 
  • Advising Indivior PLC, formerly RB Pharmaceuticals, on its demerger from the Reckitt Benckiser Group.
  • Advising AstraZeneca in its acquisition of Spirogen, a privately held biotech company focused on antibody-drug conjugate technology for use in oncology, for an initial consideration of $200 million and deferred consideration of up to $240 million based on reaching pre-determined development milestones.
  • Advising Vectura Group plc:
    • on its acquisition of German pharmaceutical company Activaero GmbH for a total consideration of €130 million (£108 million); and
    • related fundraising by means of a Placing of shares by Peel Hunt LLP and J.P.Morgan Securities plc to raise approximately £52 million.
  • Advising Horizon Discovery Group plc on its admission of shares to the AIM market on the London Stock Exchange. The IPO raised approximately £40 million before expenses for Horizon and a further £28.6 million for selling shareholders, putting a market capitalisation of company of approximately £120.5 million.
  • Assisting on various commercial matters, including advising global pharmaceutical and technology companies on distributions, collaborations and other commercial ventures, typically involving IP-related issues and transfers of data.

Pro Bono

  • Providing advice to SolarAid, an international charity that combats poverty and climate change.
  • Providing advice to Evidence for Development, a charity dedicated to improving the effectiveness of development aid through economic analysis.
