Christie Tang's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic investments, finance, and general corporate matters. She has also guided many Korean clients through litigation, investigation and regulatory matters, including handling witness interviews and conducting internal investigations. She has advised clients in a variety of industries, including energy and resources, technology, energy storage and online gaming. Prior to joining Covington, Ms. Tang was an associate with other leading international law firms in New York and Hong Kong.

  • Represented a Korean automobile manufacturer in connection with its investment in a California company that develops solid-state-light based display technologies.
  • Advised a multinational software company based in California in its internal investigation of its Korean subsidiary on allegations of potential violation of competition laws.
  • Advised a major U.S. software company in a number of internal investigations on allegations against employees for improper business conduct and self-dealings.
  • Represented a major Korean electronics company in its acquisition of all outstanding shares of a Canadian cloud-printing firm.
  • Represented a major Korean electronics company in connection with its acquisition of substantially all of the assets of an Atlanta-based company that develops platform technology for the connection of smart phones with smart televisions.
  • Represented a U.S. outdoor apparel company in connection with its joint venture in Korea and general corporate matters of the Korean joint venture.
  • Represented Asiana Airlines in an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board into crash of Asiana Flight 214 at San Francisco International Airport.
  • Represented an Atlanta-based chemical and energy holding company, a subsidiary of a South Korean manufacturer of polysilicon and other chemicals, on the acquisition of a utility scale solar power plant development company based in Chicago.
  • Represented a major South Korean petroleum and energy company and its affiliate in their joint investment in a CiGS thin film photovoltaic solar module manufacturer based in Texas.
  • Represented a Korean distributor of biomedical equipment in the sale of its common shares to its parent, a global manufacturer of robotic-assisted surgery device.
