Carolina González is an associate in the firm’s dispute resolution group.  Her practice focuses on complex international arbitration and litigation, including international investment disputes and international commercial arbitrations.  Ms. González's engagements have involved a variety of jurisdictions, with a particular focus on cases involving Latin America and Spain, and a wide range of industries that includes most prominently oil & gas, energy, technology and construction.

Ms. González is a fluent speaker of English and Spanish, with a working knowledge of French and Portuguese.

  • Representation of claimants in Valores Mundiales, S.L. y Consorcio Andino S.L. v. República Bolivariana de Venezuela (Caso CIADI No. ARB/13/11) (pending).
  • Representation of the South American subsidiary of a mining company in ICDR arbitration arising from an EPC contract for the construction of an electrical transmission line (pending).
  • Internal investigation relating to whistleblower allegations of fraud and misconduct by multinational corporation with operations in Spain.
  • Representation of claimants in Highbury International AVV y Ramstein Trading Inc. v. República Bolivariana de Venezuela (Caso CIADI No. ARB/11/1).
  • Co-representation of claimant Rusoro Mining Ltd. v. República Bolivariana de Venezuela (Caso CIADI No. ARB(AF)/12/5).
  • Advised a major oil company in connection with a potential international investment dispute. Provided advice on international commercial arbitration venues in connection with major oil services and exploration contracts entered into with an important Latin American state-owned enterprise.
  • Advised a hotel on structuring foreign investment to optimize coverage by investment protection treaties.
  • Assisted in the preparation of expert witness reports and testimony regarding the Arbitration Law framework of a Latin American State in connection with an ICC arbitration seated in Madrid.
  • Counsel for a reinsurance company in a complex arbitration dispute seated in Caracas involving several millions of dollars under CEDCA rules.
  • Advised on dispute resolution agreements for a major German contractor in connection with an EPC contract with a Latin American State tourism agency involving construction of large-scale cable railway project.   
  • Drafted a legal opinion for a Russian state-owned enterprise regarding the legal framework on public procurement law and applicable international cooperation agreements of a Latin American State in connection with a bid for procurement of several gas turbines for a multi-billion oil infrastructure project.
  • Acted for a Barbadian company in contract negotiation against a major Russian oil company regarding financing of an important international joint venture agreement.
  • Negotiated and drafted EPC contracts and subcontracts on behalf of a Barbadian company and its subsidiary in connection with the construction of power plants facilities in a Latin American State. Approximate amount of contracts US$ 2 billion.
