    Ranganath (Ranga) Sudarshan helps innovation-driven clients resolve their most important technology disputes. His successful outcomes for companies — both plaintiffs and defendants, and across a wide variety of industries — earned him a recent spot among Law360’s Rising Stars in the Technology category.

    In addition to his work for clients in the intellectual property space, Ranga serves as a co-chair of the firm’s Hiring Committee, maintains an active pro bono practice, and frequently writes and speaks about IP topics. He also serves as a Vice-Chair of the Federal Circuit Bar Association's Patent Litigation Committee, and as a member of George Washington University Law School's Intellectual Property & Technology Law Advisory Council.

The Court held that the Bayh-Dole Act does not necessarily vest title to government-funded inventions in federal contractors, citing our brief twice in its opinion.

    • Successfully represented Alabama death-row inmate in appeal before Alabama state court. Obtained vacatur of death sentence after one week evidentiary hearing.
    • Successfully represented a World War II combat veteran’s survivor in a benefits case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
    • Successfully represented an inmate in the Pennsylvania prison system in an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Case involved constitutional claims relating to allegations of religious discrimination and sexual harassment by prison officials.

    Previous Experience
    • Prior to law school, Ranga worked as a software engineer for a venture-backed network storage/security startup, as well as for a large Silicon Valley hardware company.  While in graduate school, he was a Mayfield Fellow with the Stanford Technology Ventures Program.
