Covington’s Shaoyu Chen Named One of “Client Choice Top 20 Lawyers in China”

Shanghai, October 29, 2014 — Asia Legal Business has named Shaoyu Chen, a partner based in Covington & Burling’s Beijing and Shanghai offices, as one of the “Client Choice Top 20 Lawyers in China.”

The award is given to 20 China-based lawyers who demonstrate strong client connections and recognition in the market. In-house counsel and business professionals are invited to nominate up to five of their favorite practice lawyers for the survey.

Mr. Chen advises multinational and domestic pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, food, and cosmetic companies about laws and policies of the China Food Drug Administration, focusing on legal and regulatory issues pertaining to preclinical research, clinical trials, marketing approval, advertising and promotion, GxP compliance, pharmacovigilance, import and export, and compliance with FCPA and the China Anti-Unfair Competition Law.

Mr. Chen’s experience in food and drug law includes serving as assistant chief counsel in the U.S. FDA Office of Chief Counsel, as senior counsel at California-based Amgen Inc., and as chief compliance counsel for GE Healthcare China.
