WASHINGTON, DC, October 7, 2011 — The National Association of Corporate Directors has named Covington & Burling partner Keir Gumbs to its People to Watch list, in recognition of his work promoting the highest standards of corporate governance.
Each year, NACD Directorship 100 identifies the most influential people in the boardroom community, including directors and officers, as well as corporate governance experts, journalists, regulators, academics and counselors.
“I am deeply honored to be among the outstanding group of governance experts recognized this year by the NACD,” Mr. Gumbs said.
The methodology to determine the NACD Directorship 100 finalists and People to Watch includes a review of quantitative results from a survey and input from the organization’s members, search engine rankings, and qualitative measures including peer input from chapters, expert review, major media references and review by an editorial advisory board for each of the more than 1,000 nominations.
“The NACD Directorship 100 honorees have displayed their ability to apply their own individual attributes in raising the standards of boardrooms throughout the country,” said Kenneth Daly, president and CEO of the association. “They have demonstrated core values in advancing corporate governance while also weathering the economic and regulatory uncertainties that have defined this past year.”
Mr. Gumbs and the other honorees will be recognized November 8 at a gala awards dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
