Peter Cooke, Leading Employment Lawyer, Joins Covington

LONDON, UK, February 20, 2006 -  Covington & Burling announced today that Peter Cooke has joined the firm as of counsel and will lead Covington's European Employment Law Group.  Mr. Cooke is resident in the firm's London office.

Mr. Cooke has experience advising on the employment law aspects of acquisitions, outsourcing and other corporate transactions, employee benefit arrangements, partnership issues and company law issues relevant to directors and officers.  In addition, he has advised companies on a number of appeals to the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal.  Prior to transitioning into private practice, Mr. Cooke was a legal adviser at the UK employers' organization, Engineering Employers' Federation.  He has been singled out as a leading individual in employment law in the UK Legal 500 directory.

Mr. Cooke, a writer on employment law topics, is a graduate of Southampton University (B. Sc., 1970) and was admitted as a Solicitor in England & Wales in 1974.
