Brendan Parets helps organizations resolve their most sensitive problems involving legal, political, and reputational challenges. He deploys his experiences in a Senate leadership office, as the chief legal officer for a presidential campaign, and representing organizations in government investigations and in civil litigation to provide practical advice that reflects business, political, and regulatory imperatives.
Brendan defends organizations and individuals in government investigations, including by Congress, the Department of Justice, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He represents manufacturers, retailers, and distributors in CPSC safety inquiries and recalls and manufacturers and distributors of motor vehicles and motor vehicle equipment in NHTSA matters. He advises corporations on their obligations under the Consumer Product Safety Act, the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, and other statutes administered and enforced by the CPSC.
Brendan specializes in preparing executives and other corporate representatives for high-stakes appearances before congressional committees, including hearings, briefings, interviews, and depositions. He prepares individuals for interviews by and briefings for regulators and the DOJ. He also assists organizations with policy matters before Congress and state legislatures.
Brendan rejoined Covington after serving as chief counsel to Senator Martha McSally (R-AZ), where he oversaw Senator McSally’s work on the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. He previously served as chief counsel to Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ), policy counsel to the Senate Republican Policy Committee, a Senate leadership office chaired at the time by Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), chief counsel to Senator Lindsey Graham’s presidential campaign, and legislative assistant for Rep. J. Gresham Barrett (R-SC).
