Gary Rubman, who serves as Co-Chair of Covington’s Patent Litigation Practice Group and Co-Chair of Covington’s Gaming Industry Group, is an experienced lead trial lawyer and trusted advisor for some of the world’s leading companies in their most challenging disputes. Gary is a versatile lawyer who represents clients in a wide variety of matters, including patent and trademark infringement cases, complex commercial disputes, licensing disputes, and trade secret misappropriation cases. He has experience litigating in trial and appellate courts across the country, as well as handling complex arbitration proceedings. Gary has represented clients in a broad array of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, gaming, medical devices, biotech, mechanical, electronics, and software. He routinely takes cases to trial and has been widely recognized by a number of publications, including The American Lawyer and Washington DC Super Lawyers.
Gary’s clients have included, among others, Aristocrat Technologies, Microsoft, Video Gaming Technologies, AstraZeneca, Xpoint Services, American Airlines, Product Madness, Big Fish Games, Warner-Chilcott, Omeros, Allergan, Procter & Gamble, LifeCell, Texas Instruments, Fujitsu, Johnson & Johnson, General Electric, Samsung, Ethicon, DePuy Mitek, Abbott, BKT Tires, eBay, PayPal, Talecris Biotherapeutics, and JPMorgan Chase.
Gary also serves in a number of significant firm management roles. In addition to serving as Co-Chair of two large practice groups (Patent Litigation and Gaming), Gary also serves as Vice-Chair of Covington’s Business Committee. Gary was a law clerk for Judge Samuel Alito, Jr., then serving on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and now an Associate Justice on the United States Supreme Court. Previously, Gary was on the legislative staff of Rep. John Boehner (R-OH).
