Covington Associate, Kate Scherschel, attended the Lesbians Who Tech 2016 Summit in San Francisco. The Lesbians Who Tech Summit is a conference that brings together numerous leaders and professionals in the LGBTQ community from various sectors of the technology industry.
Kate discussed her experience and explained: “The conference was an excellent opportunity to learn from thought leaders in various areas of the technology industry, from robotics to biotech."
Edie Windsor was a featured speaker at the conference. Kate highlighted: “I really enjoyed seeing the acknowledged LGBTQ activist Edie Windsor. It was fascinating to learn more about her legacy at IBM and more generally about her background in tech. It was also interesting to hear her and her lawyer’s discussion about the path to marriage equality in the Supreme Court. Hearing her speak underscored the importance of visibility of LGBTQ women in the tech community and beyond."
Kate concluded: “I am very happy that I was able to attend the conference. It was a great opportunity to network with women in tech and allies from around the world.”
