Wim van Velzen, a non-lawyer, served for a decade as Member of the European Parliament and as Vice-President of the EPP Group, which is the most important political group at the EP. Mr. van Velzen was also Vice-President of the EPP Party for 15 years. He advises clients on European affairs, including the functioning of the European institutions, EU policy-making processes, development of EU legislation and accession of new EU members. Since 1989 he has worked extensively in all countries of Central and Eastern Europe and more recently in Southeastern Europe, including the Balkans and Turkey. Mr. van Velzen has been working in the private sector since 2004 and he has a long experience in coalition building.
