Suzanne Siu is an associate in the dispute resolution group of the London office.  Ms. Siu’s practice encompasses a variety of contentious and quasi-contentious matters, including litigation, international arbitration, and internal corporate investigations. She also advises clients on a range of anti-corruption laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).  During a 6-month secondment to the legal and compliance department of Total, she assisted with the strengthening of its internal anti-corruption compliance programme, developed training materials, and advised on a range of compliance and ethics issues related to interactions with public officials.  Ms. Siu handles contentious work in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

Representative Matters

Litigation and Arbitration

  • Representing large independent oil & gas companies in an ICDR arbitration under New York law arising out of a crude transportation agreement.
  • Representing a French oil & gas independent in an ICSID arbitration against a Latin American State, in a dispute arising out of alleged breaches of a bilateral investment treaty and several production sharing agreements.
  • Representing a European oil refinery business in an ad hoc arbitration against various UK underwriters arising out of property damage and business interruption claims exceeding $150 million.
  • Representing investors in an Indian telecommunications venture in connection with an investment treaty arbitration under UNCITRAL Rules.
  • Representing a prominent political figure in connection with an application to the European Court of Human Rights alleging breaches of Article 5 of the Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and Article 2 of Protocol 4 to the Convention.
      

Pro Bono

  • Providing comparative analysis of State practice on issues relating to access to legal aid for vulnerable and disadvantaged groups.
