Sarah Hall is an associate in the firm’s Washington, DC office, where she is a member of the Litigation practice group.  Ms. Hall’s practice primarily focuses on insurance coverage litigation for policyholders, white collar defense and investigations, and complex commercial disputes.  She has considerable experience litigating disputes regarding Directors and Officers liability insurance, although she also has experience pursuing coverage under other types of insurance policies including commercial general liability, umbrella and excess, and aviation.  With regard to her insurance practice, Ms. Hall has worked on behalf of a diverse client base, including businesses operating in the telecommunications, mortgage, pharmaceutical, non-profit, and sports sectors.  Ms. Hall also represents major corporate clients subject to government investigation and a leading financial institution in class action and other proceedings.

Representative Matters

  • Representing corporate policyholders and individual officers in litigation of Director and Officer insurance coverage, including in such cases as Houston Casualty Co. v. Sprint Nextel Corp., 2010 WL 4852649 (E.D. Va. 2010).
  • Representing corporate policyholder in asbestos coverage litigation.
  • Represented corporate policyholder in litigation regarding first-party aviation insurance coverage.

Pro Bono

  • Advised non-profit organization during renewal of its Directors and Officers insurance policy and Kidnap and Ransom insurance policy.
  • Represented caregivers and kin seeking adoption, guardianship, or custody of DC children in the abuse and neglect system during a six-month rotation at the Children's Law Center, DC’s largest non-profit legal services provider.  Ms. Hall also sits on the Advisory Board of the Children’s Law Center.
  • Representing a putative class of federal prisoners in civil rights litigation regarding Eighth Amendment claims for inadequate medical care.
