Covington’s expertise encompasses identifying, evaluating and protecting virtually every type of intellectual property asset, including those involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, domain names, data rights and licensed rights.  Clients regularly turn to us to audit their intellectual property assets so they can better understand their scope and value of their rights, and can more effectively manage them.  Our intellectual property lawyers frequently draw upon Covington’s vast industry and regulatory expertise in areas such as communications, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, financial services, and information technology.  We also draw upon a global network of foreign intellectual property lawyers, as necessary, to assist with the management of foreign intellectual property assets.

We assist clients in crafting and implementing strategies to help assure continued freedom to operate and to realize and maximize the value of their intellectual property potential.

We act on our recognition that intellectual property audits and management plans must be tailored to company priorities, operations, and finances and that they must be sensitive to the prevailing regulatory environment.
