We have successfully represented numerous clients in natural gas pipeline rate, certificate, and rulemaking proceedings before FERC. We have analyzed and continue to advise on a diverse range of issues including: federal and state gas restructuring; market behavior rules; standards of conduct; blanket marketing certificates; price formation, surveys, and indices; negotiated and discounted rates; creditworthiness; NAESB; and gas quality. In addition, we have significant expertise in advising clients concerning the numerous points of intersection between natural gas and electricity policies.

- Texican in contesting a settlement involving SCANA’s proposed restructuring of its pipeline system.
- International Paper in obtaining certification and rate approval for the two interstate pipelines it owns.
- Hedge funds regarding FERC’s policies on pipeline return on equity.
- A large electrical generation company in an investigation by FERC and state authorities into profiteering in the sale of natural gas in New England during January 2004.
- A large gas utility in a controversy with El Paso Natural Gas Company concerning rights of contract termination and Rights of First Refusal.
- One of our lawyers, in his prior positions, successfully directed Baltimore Gas and Electric’s Company’s compliance and planning efforts in restructuring of the gas industry under FERC Order No. 636; saved natural gas customers over $1 billion by engineering a major victory at FERC concerning Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation's transition restructuring costs; succeeded in overturning approximately 40 FERC orders in the D.C. Circuit, saving the utility’s consumers approximately $140 million.
