Peter Cooke leads the firm’s European employment practice. He advises on the employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, flotations, outsourcings and other corporate transactions, share schemes and employee benefit arrangements, and company law and partnership issues relevant to directors and other company officers and partners. He also advises on the establishment of employer health care trusts and has considerable experience in the UK financial services sector and its regulatory environment. He has a particular interest in discrimination and diversity. Mr. Cooke conducts employment litigation in the UK employment tribunals and High Court. Prior to transitioning into private practice, Mr. Cooke was legal adviser at the UK employers' organization, the Engineering Employers' Federation. Mr Cooke was for four years the managing partner of a mid-sized London firm and brings his experience of dealing with management issues to bear on the conduct of his practice.

  • Advising in relation to the employment aspects of the UK Financial Services Authority’s investigation of split capital investment trusts.
  • Advising on the UK employment and pension issues arising on the $1.4 billion acquisition by a private equity firm of a multinational automotive business.
