Nan Lou is an associate in the firm’s Washington, DC office, where she is a member of the Litigation, White Collar Defense & Investigations and Food and Drug practice groups.  Her practice consists primarily of representing clients in complex civil litigation and white collar investigations and providing advice on food and drug regulatory matters in the United States and China.

Representative Matters

  • Representation of a pharmaceutical company in multi-district class action antitrust litigation.
  • Representation of a pharmaceutical company in litigation against FDA challenging approval of generic drugs.
  • Representation of a pharmaceutical company in qui tam and False Claims Act litigation.
  • Assisting pharmaceutical companies in complying with FDA and SFDA regulations.
  • Representation of corporate policyholders in obtaining insurance coverage for long-tail environmental and asbestos claims.
  • Representation of a defense contractor in response to a federal grand jury subpoena.
  • Conducting internal investigation in connection with potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Assisting a multinational company in conducting internal investigation into foreign trade control violations.

Honors and Rankings

  • Part of Covington team that received pro bono award from the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs at its annual Wiley Branton Awards ceremony (2010), for representation of DC prisoners during special parole hearings before the U.S. Parole Commission.

Pro Bono

  • Participated in six-month rotation at The Children’s Law Center, a DC non-profit organization, representing caregivers and adults seeking to become caregivers of children in the DC abuse and neglect system.
