Nicola Chesaites is an associate in the Brussels office.  She joined Covington after completing pupillage at one of the leading commercial sets of chambers in London and has also worked at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.

Ms. Chesaites' practice covers litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union, the General Court of the European Union and UK courts in the areas of trade, competition and sports law.

She has represented the Council of the EU in over 20 trade cases before the EU courts.  She currently represents and advises private sector clients on competition civil damages claims before UK courts and tribunals and the EU courts.  She also advises a major world sports organization on its European strategy before national courts and the EU courts.

Ms. Chesaites previously gained experience in commercial litigation before UK courts and arbitration tribunals, including jurisdiction and conflict of laws issues.

Representative Matters

  • Representing a major multinational defendant in several ongoing cartel damages claims before the High Court in London.
  • Representing a major world sports organization in a competition law appeal before the General Court of the European Union.
  • Advising a major world sports organization on its European litigation strategy particularly with regard to EU, ECHR and arbitration law issues.
  • Representing the Council of the EU in anti-dumping and anti-subsidy cases as defendant and appellant before the EU courts.
