Mipe Okunseinde represents companies in investigations by the BIS, DOJ, OFAC, and other federal enforcement agencies regarding alleged violations of international trade controls, anti-corruption laws, and related federal laws and regulations.  She also assists companies in conducting internal investigations into their compliance with these laws and regulations.

Representative Matters

  • Assisting major multinational corporation in conducting internal investigation into its compliance with various international trade controls.
  • Representing company in government investigation concerning allegations of violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Successfully defended major pharmaceutical corporation in a government investigation concerning alleged safety and labeling violations, resulting in the declination by the DOJ to intervene in a related qui tam case.
  • Successfully represented multinational corporation facing government investigation concerning compliance with federal Anti-Kickback Act, resulting in the declination by the DOJ to take any enforcement action.
  • Represented multinational corporation in an investigation by OFAC concerning allegations of trade sanctions violations.
  • Represented a multinational oil company in ICC rules and ICSID rules arbitrations concerningan investment dispute with a South American country. 
  • Assisted with U.S. State Department requested review of the US model bilateral investment treaty and OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

  • Drafted legal memoranda, led training workshops, and provided strategic implementation recommendations to a foreign human rights commission regarding norms and best practices for access to justice, good governance, minority rights, and related human rights issues.
