Michael Hopkins is resident in our New York office.  He is a partner in the firm’s bankruptcy and restructuring practice.  Although Mr. Hopkins has represented debtors, committees, creditors and equity holders, the predominant representation focus of his practice is creditors and, in particular, large financial institutions which provide a wide range of financial services to domestic and foreign businesses.  His practice includes both out-of-court financial or operational restructurings as well as Chapter 11 advice, counsel and representation.

Representative Matters

  • Wilmington Trust Company as indenture trustee for two issues of second lien bonds issued by Eastman Kodak.
  • A corporate client that sold assests to Cengage Learning.
  • Wilmington Trust Company as indenture trustee for $48 billion of bonds issued by Lehman Brothers Holding Inc. and as co-chair of the official creditors' committee in the Lehman Brothers Chapter 11 case.
  • Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank as syndicate agent for credit facilities to Southaven Power LLC, an independent power producer.
