Marialuisa ("ML") Gallozzi has represented policyholders for over 20 years.  She has negotiated well over 100 insurance settlements with domestic, foreign and insolvent insurers involving coverage for asbestos, implantable medical device, food contamination, environmental, D&O and other liabilities and also has settled numerous first-party claims including those involving September 11, flood, collapse, hurricane losses, and crime/employee dishonesty.   Ms. Gallozzi has extensive experience representing and advising companies on insurance coverage for high profile recall matters involving foods, drugs and medical devices.  She represents nonprofit organizations on a wide range of coverage matters including employee dishonesty and D&O claims, and represents major corporate policyholders against runoff, troubled and insolvent insurers.

Ms. Gallozzi is listed in peer-recommended directories such as Chambers USA’s “America’s Leading Business Lawyers,” Who’s Who Legal “Insurance and Reinsurance," and Legal Media Group’s “Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers.”

Ms. Gallozzi has lectured extensively on insurance topics in CLE programs and law schools, including serving as an adjunct professor at American University, Washington College of Law and as a guest lecturer at the University of Virginia School of Law and the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Ms. Gallozzi is a Managing Partner for Legal Personnel at the firm, with responsibility for associate issues.  She previously served as an Associate Ombudsperson and co-chaired the summer associate program.

Representative Matters

  • Represented food manufacturer in negotiating multiple settlements with first party and third party insurers for losses in connection with an international food recall.
  • Advised drug and food manufacturers on recovery of recall-related losses under first party and specialty product recall policies.
  • Advised food manufacturers on the procurement of specialty coverage for contamination and tampering risks.
  • Represented a major American food supplier in complex novation transaction involving workers compensation policies.
  • Representing a component manufacturer before FDA in connection with an international hip joint recall.
  • Representing a biotechnology company in regulatory matters relating to genetically modified corn (Starlink).
  • Advised biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and clinical trials organization on coverage under clinical trials policies.
  • Represented a utility company in multiple settlements of environmental claims.
  • Represented a financial services company in recovering for its property and business interruption losses caused by the September 11 terrorist attacks.
