Laura Brookover is an associate in the firm’s Washington, DC office. Ms. Brookover’s practice focuses on consumer litigation and class action defense. She also has experience defending companies in state enforcement actions alleging consumer law violations.
Ms. Brookover has also advised financial institutions on regulatory compliance and Internet companies on consumer privacy and data security matters.
Representative Matters
- Obtained early dismissal of all claims in nationwide class action lawsuit alleging improper product labeling.
- Represents national bank in nationwide class action challenging imposition of overdraft fees.
- Represents national banks in class and enforcement actions involving unfair and deceptive practices claims.
- Counseled companies on compliance with consumer privacy laws and financial regulations, including California’s Shine the Light law and the Dodd-Frank Act.
Pro Bono
- Obtained substantial settlement for client in constitutional litigation alleging excessive force after client was shot by a police officer.
- Counseled nonprofit organization on website privacy policy disclosures and donor privacy protection best practices.
