Jörg Walter is a German Rechtsanwalt and an associate in the firm’s Brussels office and a member of the Privacy & Data Security Practice Group.  His practice focuses on advising clients on a broad variety of privacy and data protection issues under both EU and German law.  In addition, Mr. Walter regularly advises European and US companies on internet and e-commerce law and assists clients with conducting general compliance measures, internal investigations and e-discovery requests.

Before joining Covington in Brussels, Mr. Walter worked as trainee lawyer in the regulatory practice group of a major German law firm and for several institutions, including the German Data Protection Authority of Rhineland-Palatinate, the European Commission in Brussels, the United Nations in New York, the German Bundestag in Berlin, and the Legal Service of the French Assemblée Nationale in Paris.  At the University of Mainz, Mr. Walter also gained experience as a research assistant for Professor Dr. Josef Ruthig in Public, European and Comparative Law.

  • Monitoring of and advising on EU Draft Regulation on Data Protection.
