Jason Levine represents corporate and individual clients in large-scale, criminal investigations, related regulatory enforcement actions, and private litigation. As a part of Covington's well-respected and successful white collar criminal defense and high-stakes commercial civil litigation practices, he regularly prepares initial pleadings, oversees discovery, conducts fact and expert depositions, develops and executes motions practice strategies, and actively manages all aspects of internal investigations.
Representative Matters
- Representing a major money center bank in connection with a Federal Reserve Board and New York State Department of Financial Services investigation.
- Representing the former CEO of IndyMac Bancorp in matters arising out of the government takeover of IndyMac Bank, including knocking out all but one claim in SEC’s once wide-ranging securities enforcement case and settling the last remaining claim, without admitting or denying liability, as a negligence-based claim for $80,000 and a commitment to comply with the securities laws; successfully resolving an FDIC lawsuit; and defending and/or successfully resolving mortgage-backed securities cases and a lawsuit filed by the trustee of Bancorp’s bankruptcy estate litigation.
- Representing an employee of the largest global financial institutions in an investigation by the Criminal and Antitrust Divisions of the Department of Justice.
- Represented senior executive of large oilfield services company in Department of Justice criminal investigation into alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Pro Bono
- Successfully represented Plaintiff in Wone v. Price, et al. (DC Superior Court), a wrongful death lawsuit arising out of the murder of Washington lawyer Robert Wone. Favorable settlement reached after extensive discovery in which Defendants invoked the Fifth Amendment rather than attempt to refute Plaintiff’s allegations.
- Represented the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and New York Council of Defense Lawyers as amici curiae in support of a petition for certiorari to the Supreme Court.
