Jo Dale Carothers is a partner in the firm’s San Diego office.  Her practice emphasizes litigation in the field of electrical and computer engineering, including electronics, semiconductor process technology and software.  For example, she has litigated cases involving microprocessors, microcontrollers, memory devices, power conversion circuits, analog-to-digital converters, communications devices and protocols, fabrication processes, packaging and software for many applications.

  • Silicon Storage Technology, Inc. v. Telefunken (N.D. Cal.).  Representation of Silicon Storage Technology in patent litigation relating to process technology for memory devices.
  • Silicon Storage Technology, Inc. v. Intersil Corporation, et al. (N.D. Cal.).  Representation of Silicon Storage Technology in a declaratory judgment action involving EEPROM devices.
  • Finisar Corporation v. Source Photonics, Inc. et al., Case No. CV 10-00032 (N.D. Cal. 2010).  Represented Source Photonics in patent litigation involving fiber optic components used in telecommunication systems and data communication networks.
  • Advanced Micro Devices v. Samsung, Case No. 3:08-cv-0986-SI.  Represented defendant in patent litigation involving circuit, microprocessor, and process patents.
  • Fortinet, Inc. v. Trend Micro Incorporated, Case No. 3:10-cv-48 (N.D. Cal. 2010).  Represented Trend Micro in patent litigation concerning anti-virus technology.
  • UMC, ProMOS, Microchip, and Microna, USITC Inv. No. 337-TA-648.  Represented the respondents in this multiparty representation concerning semiconductor integrated circuits.
  • Flash Memory Devices, USITC Inv. No. 337-TA-619. Represented multiple respondents in this ITC investigation brought by Sandisk concerning flash memory devices.
  • Microchip v. ZiLOG, District of Arizona, Case No. 2:05-cv-2406-MHM.  Represented Microchip in a lawsuit alleging infringement of three Microchip microcontroller patents by ZiLOG’s products.  These patents relate to reducing the pin count for microcontrollers.
