Geoffrey Hobart is a partner in the Washington office and focuses on the defense of companies and individuals who are under investigation by the government. Since returning to private practice in 2000, Mr. Hobart has specialized in the defense of pharmaceutical companies and their employees in investigations involving alleged violations of the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Act, the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act, and the Medicaid Rebate Statute. Mr. Hobart also has extensive experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of a variety of companies.

Representative Matters

  • Represented a major pharmaceutical company in an investigation conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston concerning violations of the False Claims Act and the Medicaid Rebate Statute.  Case resulted in a civil disposition.
  • Represented a major pharmaceutical company in a False Claims Act investigation conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston and the Department of Justice concerning Medicare reimbursement and Average Wholesale Price.  Case resulted in a civil disposition.
  • Represented large construction management joint venture in fraud investigation conducted by U.S. Attorney’s Office in Vermont.  Case resulted in a civil disposition.
  • Represents a major pharmaceutical company in an investigation concerning a variety of sales and marketing practices.  Investigation is ongoing.
